SCS Fundraiser…

You’ve probably heard of a tel-a-thon or even walk-a-thon but, have you ever heard of a Dodge-a-thon?

SCS' 2015 Fundraiser

SCS’ 2015 Fundraiser

It’s that time of year when SCS turns its focus to fundraising and this year we’re spicing it up with a Dodge-a-thon!

It’s really simple too… Students ask friendsand  family for donations and then between April 21-28 the kids (divided into teams… some pictures are below) play dodgeball during their lunch recess.

The kids are pumped because there are prizes to be won for several top fundraisers and if the student body raises $2500 the kids will also be able to play a game of dodgeball against the K-8 Teachers. The raised funds go to support SCS programs and a new school bell (ding don!)

Would you like to make a donation?  We thought we’d add a fun element for those who read our blog.  The value of each “online” donation that comes in will   randomly be assigned to a student’s fundraising total.  To make a donation, please contact the school office – remember that donations of $20 or more will receive a tax receipt as long as the proper contact details are submitted.

I LOVE SIGNET – Tea Party and Open House

Technical difficulties have kept this blog offline for awhile but please do enjoy this post that was written shortly after our “I Love Signet Campaign”.

All set and ready to go for our Elegant Tea Party

All set and ready to go for our Elegant Tea Party

February 14 was the I LOVE SIGNET – Tea Party and Open House. After an intense month of Teachers, Interns and Board members coming together to reach Churches and International Agents in a never before attempted Recruiting Campaign, it was time to gather for fun.

The Signet Chapel was heartily decorated for Valentine ’s Day and children’s voices could be heard filled the air with squeals of delight throughout the day as winners were announced for raffle prizes. Not to be outdone, older groups were also well represented amongst the guests, parents and grandparents sitting, sipping tea or coffee and munching on delicious treats. The High Tea was a delectable success. All the food and floral arrangements were lovingly prepared and served by Friends of Signet, who I might add, also double as prayer warriors committed to fervent prayer over the school in their mission as Handmaidens of the Lord.

A variety of items were placed on display for our guests to shop... and shop they did!

Guests kept streaming in to partake of the food, fellowship and SHOPPING. The Elegant Shopping was indeed as THRIFTY as promised, and generous contributions were collected. The happy shoppers were doubly blessed, because, not only were they getting gently used treasures but they were seeding into our ministry, with their love and their giving.

Happy was the tone and joyous was the vibe, as overhead, the Elementary play the “Spyglass” was projected on the projection screen. It gave our guests a beautiful reminder of the current faces of Signet how creative and talented our young actors are.

What a day! We had several tours including the largest group of tours given this year, as interested guests toured the 3 storey school and asked questions regarding enrollment and rental of the property. I LOVE SIGNET was the refrain as we interfaced with Friends of Signet, Donors and Alumni in a most animated Signet Loving Day.

One of the volunteers commented, “What a sweet Presence was in the room, and how wonderful to see all the generations present for one cause!” Other guests were so happy to be there, many signed up for more information about the school.

To top it all… I believe I saw breaking through the clouds, God nodding, smiling, as He whispered, “Yes, I LOVE SIGNET! Don’t you?

iHeartSignetLogo

In an effort to spread the word about our great school we’ve recently launched the iHeartSignet Telethon Campaign that aims to reach over 500 churches and businesses by February 14th.

We’ve got our work cut out for us and would LOVE your help if you’re willing and able. All you need to do to participate is:

  1. Call the school (416-750-7515) to sign-up and get your script and list of contacts.
  2. Call the contacts on your list from home (at your leisure) or at the school (4-5pm weekdays only).
  3. Make a difference to our awesome community!

Hope you can help us out!

Why start a blog?

Why-Blog

We’re not gonna lie – Signet Christian School is a great school with a great community of students, teachers, parents and friends.  The only problem: not enough people know about this GEM of a school.

So, in January 2015 we finally got around to starting a blog where we can share the AWESOMENESS of the people who make up this wonderful community.

Over the course of time we will:

  • Share stories about our kids past and present,
  • Highlight our history as we celebrate 40 years of awesomeness,
  • Provide details about upcoming opportunities with internships and extended learning,
  • We even hope to shed some light on the question “Why Christian Schools?”

Basically, we’ve got so much to offer and we’re looking forward to sharing it here.  We hope you will be inspired by and enjoy the posts that follow.

Thanks for stopping by!
